About Tio Sam
Published Author, Servant Leader, and Inspirational Speaker
Tio Sam has published articles in military journals and periodicals on leadership and intelligence topics and also published a book about the fascinating journey that shaped his worldviews titled, Redemption of a Counterspy. Commissioned as a Colson Fellow in May 2021, he is a U.S. Army Veteran and a Special Agent with the Department of Defense with over 34 years of progressive leadership experience gained while chasing terrorists and spies in the U.S. and hot spots around the globe, including in both Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan respectively. Today he leads his church Safety Ministry and consults other churches seeking to establish their own safety program. Tio Sam is also an avid storyteller and has been invited to share his wisdom, knowledge, and insights at various high schools, universities, clubs, churches and other venues throughout Texas and virtually online in order to inspire faith, help you thrive at life, and provide hope where hope may have been lost.

Tio Sam's passion is for encouraging and helping others overcome adversity resulting from destructive mindsets by stepping into their biblical role through community and acts of service. He believes servant leadership is one of the keys to success in any endeavor. Tio’s testimony is a powerful and gripping account of his battle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and how he overcame those challenges that caused him to have a dark and hopeless worldview by changing his mindset. He is now committed to helping kids, teenagers, businesspeople, entrepreneurs, and men and women in general, do the same!
